October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and to kick the month off, I put together some of my favorite (and FREE!) resources to help teachers learn more about cybersecurity.
I recommend these sites:
An excellent resource for student and teacher alike, these online classes include topics like operating systems, networking, and system administration.
Ed Ex is a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) where accredited colleges upload their faculty video lectures and coursework. The courses are free unless you chose the certification route. You can choose from many different schools, including Michigan University and Rochester Institute. Their courses seem to focus more on the business aspects of cybersecurity.
Coursera is another MOOC which features cybersecurity classes and certification. Their courses seem to focus more on the methodology around cybersecurity. Duke University and New York University.
MIT Open Course Ware is the site MIT uses as the clearinghouse for their MOOC resources. The cybersecurity class taught here originate from the School of Engineering.
Cybrary offers free and paid online courses. This cybersecurity course will help you and students understand different areas of cybersecurity.
What is your favorite, free cybersecurity resource? Where do you find the best PD for cybersecurity? Have you used any of these courses? I would love to hear your recommendations.
