COMPUTER SCIENCE (CS) AND YOU
What have you learned working with this community? Has anything in particular surprised you?
I learned that CS for All Teachers is an amazing resource for educators to share their ideas, experiences, and resources. They are a passionate group of people that want to see others succeed and grow within the community. It is rewarding to be part of the process that helps teachers connect and collaborate.
What do you enjoy most about working on CS for All Teachers?
I enjoy creating the products - whether it be an infographic, animation, or social media post - that will ultimately assist educators in accessing the community within CS for All Teachers. The people I have collaborated with through CS for All Teachers have been inspirational and a joy to work with.
TELL US MORE!
What is your first memory about CS?
I studied Illustration and Graphic Design in college. During my last year, a computer class for design was added - and I was intrigued. I learned to design, illustrate, and animated using a computer after graduating. The tools for designing improve so quickly, making the learning and creativity process a continuous one.
Outside of CS for All Teachers, what types of projects do you work on?
I work on a variety of infographics, interactive learning modules, animations, and social media graphics for clients that help to visualize information, data, and research in an engaging way.
What program or app can you not absolutely not live without? What makes it so indispensable?
I love my Garmin app, as I use it to visualize the data from my workouts. I can compare past workouts to current ones - so it keeps me motivated.
How do you unwind or recharge after a long day (week, month, etc.) of work? Any hobbies, special talents, or favorite vacation spots you'd like to share?
I love to paint and draw when I have time. I bring my traveling watercolor set and sketchbook when I vacation on Nantucket Island in the summer. To unwind daily, I love being outdoors, where I bike, walk, or row. I live just outside of Boston where I row on the Charles River or bike out to Concord and Lexington where the roads are quiet.
